This is what we call a no -brainer.

12 bottles boxed and sealed in under 2 minutes ,with no fuss

Beerbelly started out with send out beer in the cheaper option using as much recycled materials a possible and padding each bottle out for protection, and on a pack of 12 it took 5 minutes at a rush. We that,s over £1.10 on labour alone. The couriers still manage to break bottles.

So I purchase a bubble machine and wrapped each bottle in 5 layers and put on boxes of 6 and then send. Yep on an order of 12 labour went up and packaging cost increased but we reduced damages.

I then purchased some beer boxes with integrated cardboard dividers which are good for your local deliveries and we do sell them know, but again its a hit and miss with Mr courier.

So by chance I ordered some Cider from a large producer and the order can on a pallets and each pack of 12 used a pulp tray style packaging in a lovely printed box. We I sold the Cider at a festival and recycled the boxes for orders. The speed of picking and packing along with reducing damaged bottle in transit just blow me away. I did not get customers chasing orders, or having to find out way the next day delivery is still on the van out for delivery, no more putting claims in and replacing the orders. So this is what we have done. A learning curve which you all will have probably gone through and some still are. Don’t think cheep…your time as a micro brewer is very valuable. Buy smart and try the pulp system.

I know many UK microbreweries that only offer collection or local delivery themselves, because of the costs involved with this problem, and some of the large breweries put it down to it is what it is and as they are send out hundreds of orders per day, which there profits covers some of the costs.

So sell more by setting up a online shop ( we know a few companies that can help if you want to ask)

Use the correct tape , we  recommend 2 or 3 inch cross weave tape and you will only use just 1 meter per box, so you will know your exact cost per delivery.
